haha, well, i suppose it depends on where you live. i know that here in san francisco, most people wear helmets because even though it’s a very bike-friendly city, there are a lot of bike related accidents here and it generally feels unsafe to go without one.
though i know that in many european cities, where the infrastructure exists for cyclists to share the road with cars, people tend to wear them less. but here in the states, it seems pretty important!
